Bali is magical—lush forests, temples, beaches, mountains, and culture that feels alive in every corner. But before you step into this paradise, there are a few local habits and practical tips that will make your trip even more enjoyable.

1. Offerings Are Everywhere — Don’t Step on Them

Small flower-and-incense offerings (“canang sari”) are placed on sidewalks daily. Step around them respectfully.

2. Temple Etiquette Matters

Cover shoulders and knees, and wear a sarong. Women on their menstrual cycle should avoid entering certain temple areas.

3. Expect Traffic in Popular Areas

Canggu, Seminyak and Ubud often have heavy traffic. Allocate extra time when travelling.

4. Bargaining Is Normal

Especially in markets. Start low but stay friendly.

5. Beware of Monkey Forests

Monkeys often grab sunglasses, bottles or food. Keep your belongings close.

6. Don’t Drink Tap Water

Always drink bottled or filtered water. Ice in restaurants is generally safe.
